The Tzitzit

The Tzitzit [Tassles] amongst Sepharadim Maran writes in Orah Hayim 8:5 in the name of the Midrash: after wrapping in the small Tallit, one returns his two Tzitziot to his front and two to the back, in order to become "surrounded with mitzvoth." :שולחן ערוך אורח חיים ח סעיף ה כותב בשם המדרש מחזיר שתי ציציות לפניו ושתיים לאחריו, כדי שיהא מסובב במצוות But, in Yeshivot [Torah academies] that practice wearing them out and together to the sides, one may do so as to not be different nor defy that place. אבל בישיבות שנהגו להוציאם ביחד ובצדדים אפשר לעשות כן ולא להיות שונה ומתריס נגד המקום. ~חכם מוצפי שליט"א But the ASHKENAZIM would wear their TZITZIOT OUT to VERIFY their IDENTITIES amongst the GOYIM. והאשכנזים התהלכו הרבה בין הגויים ונזהרו לשמור את עצמם מהם ע"י הציציות And we may not contravene because of: "Do not abandon the Torah of your mother" & "Do not DISQUALIFY the Rishonim." ואין לנו לשנות משום אל תטוש תורת אמך, ומשום שלא להוציא לעז על הראשונים Meanwhile, the SEPHARADIM throughout all the generations would NOT WEAR their TZITZIOT OUT. For in Kabbalistic terms, the TALIT KATAN [small] is called: INNER LIGHT, while the TALIT GADOL [large], SURROUNDING LIGHT. אנחנו הספרדים על פי הקבלה בכל הדורות לא הוצאנו הציציות בחוץ כי הטלית קטן נקרא אור פנימי והטלית גדול הוא אור מקיף ועיין בדברי רבנו האריז״ל בשער הכוונות ודברי רבנו הרש״ש ז״ל בנהר שלום , וכן כתב החסד לאלפים סימן ח , ישכיל עבדי ח״ה סימן ג , אור לציון ח״ב עמוד כ״ז , וכך שמענו ממורנו הרב עזרא עטיה ראש הישיבה רבם של כל חכמי הספרדים , ומכל גדולי המקובלים בדור הקודם , וכן ממור אבי ז״ל. -הרב מוצפי And R' Ben Tzion Mutzafi tells over more: ...that 50 and 60 years ago In Yerushalayim and in all the cities of Yisrael as well as in yeshivat Porat Yosef, which was then full of great Torah luminaries and mekubalim, "when a new student would arrive from a different place and his tzitziot were outside, he would immediately get scolded and reprimanded sharply that he tuck his Tzitziot inside as they allude to Or Pnimi [inner light]." And the Rishonim [early authorities] who were like angels would wear their cloak or robe underneath their coat and this cloak would be closed on all sides - similar to the cloak of the high priest [Kohen Gadol] in the Bet HaMikdash.
